Wedding Card

Congratulations to my niece, Sarah, and her new husband, Nick. Sorry we couldn't come home for the wedding, but retail jobs don't allow any type of leave between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our thoughts were with you. We wish you all the best.

Cuttin' Corners Quilt

This quilt pattern is from Quilting in the Rain. When I first seen the quilt, I thought it might be difficult to make with all the different pieces. It fooled me.....because it was really quite simple.

Here are the Moda Layer Cake Park Avenue squares and backing I started with.

The first step was to sew the squares together.

Next I taped the cutting lines and cut away. Put it together like a puzzle and ended up with this:

This is the finished quilt!

Tablecloth

Made this tablecloth using a "recipe" from www.modabakeshop.com. It's made from two charm packs. It starts with making nine of these 9-patch blocks.

The next step was to cut the 9-patch block, turn the sections to create a new pattern and sew those together like this:

Sew the strips, make the backing, take it to the quilter, machine and hand sew the binding and ta-ta.....this is the finished product!

Welcome Lita!

My great niece arrived in the world today about 3:30 a.m. This is the first granddaughter for my brother and sister-in-law! Congratulations to Celena, Virg, Archer and Markus! I'm sure she'll always be protected by her two big brothers!

Mystery Afghan #4

This square was supposed to be done in stripes. I started to do it that way, but I didn't really like the looks of it and there was going to be too many loose ends to weave in. Besides, if it's going to be pink and white squares, I decided these should be pink and white too!

Mystery Afghan #3

The third square of the mystery afghan is a V-stitch. Wow! We're making 8 of this square so I'll do 4 pink and 4 white.

Mystery Afghan #1

I'm participating in a Mystry Afghan Crochet-Along by Bernat (yarn company). Didn't want to spend the money on the yarn they suggested, so decided to do mine white and pink. Because I don't know how big the end project will be, I have no idea what I'll use it for when it's finished. Should be interesting to see it develop over the next few weeks. We get one clue a week until December 1st.

Jiffy Jelly Quilt Finale

IT'S FINISHED! Many thanks has to go to my great sister-in-law, Marilyn. Thank you for putting up with all my dumb questions all the time. Without you and your encouragement, I probably would never have finished it. Don't think I won't be calling when I start my next project! Hehehehe!

Me and my finished project! I'm so proud of myself.

Jiffy Jelly Quilt - Part 5

It was not in my plans today to finish sewing my Jiffy Jelly Quilt top, but I did! Maybe I'll find some material Saturday to use as my binding and backing. Also have to find some place to have it machine quilted.

Now I can start looking for material for the next quilt I want to make!

Jiffy Jelly Quilt - Part 4

All the squares are sewed and this is what I came up with when I laid them out. Sewed three strips tonight. Am anxious to sew the other seven strips and then sew them all together! One step at a time!

Jiffy Jelly Quilt - Part 3

Surprised myself tonight by getting all the "light" squares sewed. Some of the squares don't seem so light, but I know they will all work out in the end. All the squares are sewed and now I'll have to spend some time deciding how I want them laid out for the quilt.

Jeremiah's Card

Happy Birthday, Jeremiah! "J" is my nephew and I know he had a wonderful birthday because he was visiting his sister in Ohio. He is a "Super Star."

Anniversary Card

Had the front of this card made and decided to use it for an anniversary card for my friend. The inside verse reads: May God continue to bless your lives with love and happiness. Happy Anniversary

Great Book!

"The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans was a GREAT book. Get it at your local library and read it. You won't be sorry. I'm currently reading "While My Sister Sleeps" by Barbara Delinsky. It's good too. "Hannah's List" by Debbie Macomber is ready for pick up at the library. Should keep me in some good reading material for the next few days.

Jiffy Jelly Quilt - Part 2

Here are a few samples of the "dark" squares for my quilt. Started sewing the "light" squares, but will not post any pictures of those until they are all sewed!

Jiffy Jelly Quilt - Part I

I began the first step on my Jiffy Jelly Quilt by cutting my Bali Pop strips. At first I wasn't really sure I was thrilled about the prints when I opened the Bali Pop. Once I got them cut and started sewing the squares, I think I'm really going to like it. It will be different.

Here are all strips cut and sorted by how I'm going to sew them into squares. I'll keep you in suspense until Part II as to how each square will be sewed. Stayed tuned for Part II....coming soon from my blog to you!
